Ehhh, Pitta? That was what I remember from George's corner! Great family and a great place to read a book with a coke and a souvlaki whilst your Triumoh Tr7 sits there! Ah yes, 1994 was a good year, mostly. If anyone was there in 1994 and remembers Neil & John, please get in touch via www.g0ofb.co.uk (cut and paste it to avoid URL errors!) Yia sou JJ

After hearing about this new restaurant in Loggos and reading glowing report about the prawns, I was really looking forward to trying it for myself when we went to Paxos in July - I wasn't disappointed!!! The menu's certainly a bit different from the usual Greek fare. I wasn't expecting chicken curry in Loggos and eventually had to try it out on about our third visit. Wasn't bad, but I think it will improve when the poppadums, which we were assured were "on order from Athens" arrive. The giant prawns were every bit as good as I'd been told and come in two different varieties - with lemon and garlic or in a light tempura-style batter with sweet chilli dip. I had to try both to make sure that they were both as good as each other. My other favourite starter was the Bloody Mary Soup (I had that twice as well!) When I first ordered it, I asked if the vodka was already mixed into it or if it was served in a glass on the side. The reply was "neither - you get a bottle" - and I did! A bowlful of delicious freshly-made tomato soup (not a bit like Heinz!) and a full-size bottle of vodka which was left on the table to help myself to!!!! Definitely a 5-star starter! Favourite main course was the warm feta and bacon salad with balsamic dressing - well I had to have something a bit healthy in between the boozy starter and pudding. Naturally my favourite pudding was every bit as boozy as the starter - warm peaches, served in a clay bowl with about an inch of Metaxa in the bottom. You even get straws so you don't have to waste any! They do have some traditional Greek dishes on the menu, like moussaka, lamb kleftiko, Greek salad and tzatziki, but I think that this is definitely somewhere to go when you fancy something a little bit different. Oh and I must also mention the watermelon draped with about half a pound of parma ham - yummy! They'd only been open a couple of months when we were there, but were already building up quite a reputation. I went round at about 8 o'clock one evening to try and reserve a table for later and was told that every table was already reserved! That was on a Sunday night (last evening for a lot of people) so if you want to eat there on a Sunday, book early. Yes, we liked it and yes, we'll definitely be back next year.

This is the place to go for the best cheesecake ever - Aleka makes the most wonderful light and tasty cheesecake - a day isn't complete without a slice. We are looking forward to returning in June to enjoy once again.

Top food in Paxos is to be found at Nionios in Lakka. Opened in 1945, it is now in the hands of the third and fourth generations. Fresh local produce only. A wide and skilfully prepared variety of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes are all cooked with a wonderful mixture of fresh herbs and served with great friendliness and enthusiasm. You will need to book if you want to be sure of a table. We shall be returning.
Charlie and family.
We had a geat quality meal,a real taste of Greece complete with warm and friendly welcome. The kitchen run to see and choose your meal is a fun experience. If you want to finish off with something bit different, stagger over to the bar over the road on the kitchen side (can't remember the name) and try their cocktail Frankie the Monk!

I Visited Paxos last September (2005) the best place to eat was the Olive tree in Gaios (which has now moved to Loggos) reading the other reviews the menu sounds the same. We went back a few times as we stayed in Paxos for 2 weeks. I had the giant prawns with lemon & garlic, Chicken Curry, Tzatziki, Bloody Mary soup and the Paella and every dish was cooked to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the island. :)

Where do I start? We spent three glorious weeks in Paxos this year getting married and had a party of 40 to entertain for a week. In my experience all Paxos tavernas and bars are a delight, but my particular favourites are: - Taverna Dodos for a quiet relaxed home made meal in a pretty garden in Gaios - Taverna Genesis for a traditional Greek Night and great cocktails in Gaios overlooking the harbour - Vassilis Taverna for amazing spit roast meats just off the main square - George's Corner for the good old fashioned pitta and watch the world go by - Lila's Taverna in Magazina, my personal all time favourite with Thomas, Stefanos and their good wives cooking up a storm every day for the locals. Book a taxi to the Sunset bar for a gin& tonic and then retire to Lila's for Greece as it used to be.... Enjoy Julia Hart x

Nothing beats Rosa de Paxos for the best fish, mussels and prawns. Michelas is the amazing owner of the place and its my favourite restaurant in the world

Dodo's Taverna
Dodo's Taverna is by far the most charming place to eat on Paxos. Its Einstein-look-alike host is delightful and his colourful garden is filled with herbs and conversational delights (like pineapples in
a tree). The taverna is enhanced by being away from the shallow harbour front eateries that tend to lack character.
